send the first Basilians to Canada. Sheptytskyi's spirituality and deep
commitment to his people are inspirational.
Pliatonyd Filias, OSBM, who founded the first Basilian mission
at Beaver Lake, Alberta, in 1903.
Navkratii Kryzhanovskyi, OSBM, who served 37 years in the Canadian
mission and was the first provincial superior of the American-Canadian
Province of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, established in 1931-1932.
